IPS Data Manager by HyPerformix
With Data Manager, you can:
- Automatically gather performance data from numerous sources using a patent-pending data gathering engine.
- Centralize enterprise-wide performance data for use by the IPS product family of performance and capacity
management solutions.
- Validate the integrity and usefulness of collected performance data to ensure meaningful results
when used by de IPS product family.
MANAGE PERFORMANCE AND CAPACITY DATA THROUGHOUT THE APPLICATION LIFE CYCLE.
Description
Enterprise environments typically utilize a number of systems management tools to monitor applications
and systems. These tools generate large volumes of data that must be analyzed in order to pinpoint and
react to performance issues. This analysis is time consuming and requires skilled resources that must
be familiar with all of the various sources of data.
Because of the volume of data and lack of skilled resources it is difficult to fully realize the
value of performance monitors in today’s enterprise.
Features
IPS Performance Data Manager provides a central repository for performance data to help you gain the
maximum benefit from your investment in monitoring and modeling solutions.
Capabilities include:
- Central repository for performance data – provides the data to perform historical performance
and capacity analysis.
- Heterogeneous data support – Supports the following data sources: BMC Perform, HP OpenView
Performance Agent, IBM Tivoli Monitor (ITM), Mercury LoadRunner and SiteScope, Microsoft
Performance Manager, ICS-DB2, and SAR for HP-UX, IBM AIX, Linux, and Solaris.
- Automated data gathering - supports automated data input using a data gathering engine.
- Normalized performance data – stores inputted data in a common format that can be used by the
IPS product family. Stores performance metrics, workload, workflow, and topology information.
- Automated time synchronization – synchronizes performance data across multiple time zones.
- Data management tools – provides maintenance tools and utilities to manage the data repository content.
- Reporting – open architecture allows the use of your favorite reporting tool.
- Scheduled Data Loads – data imported into the repository can be scheduled to occur at regular
intervals (figure 3). You can also examine the details for loaded data (figure 4) in order to verify the
status of your data imports.
Benefits
The benefits of IPS Performance Data Manager include:
- Extended value of monitoring products – by utilizing monitored data to create performance models
and perform proactive performance management.
- Improved Productivity – by reducing the time it takes to gather and process performance data.
- Faster model creation – by having all performance data consolidated in a single location.
- Integration with the IPS product family – ensures long term investment protection in the IPS
product family by using a common data repository for all products.
